When to visit

Any time of the year is good to visit but most people avoid the humid and hot wet season.  The spring shoulder season for wildlife-lovers is often very productive, as animals are out and about in bigger numbers and showing themselves off.

Climate

During the dry season from May to October, the days are sunny and the nights are mild with temperatures ranging from 21°C - 32°C .  Many travellers find this time of year the most comfortable for bushwalking, hiking, camping and cycling. The wet season is from November to April and hotter (25°C - 33°C) and very humid after rains. This is also the time of year that tropical cyclones, monsoonal rains and storms occur most frequently. During the wet season, some attractions may be closed due to flooding. Many locals and experienced travellers find the wet a good time to visit nonetheless, because it’s when the land comes alive. With suitable travel arrangements and advice it is possible to enjoy travel, especially during the shoulder periods.
