This fully guided trip takes in food, wine, culture and wildlife. Led by the region’s most experienced nature guide, your journey starts where the mighty Murray River meets the ocean, where inland inhabitants like Cape Barren Geese and Koalas live alongside Southern Right Whales (seasonal viewing available in Aug-Oct). Upstream, you’ll stay at a beautiful bushland retreat, enjoy dinner under the stars and search for charismatic Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats. Finally, you’ll arrive at the Flinders Ranges, home to the luxurious Arkaba Station. Here you’ll be wined, dined and travel safari-style through a private sanctuary spanning hundreds of square kilometres.

Day 1-2 Starting in Adelaide, this tour heads south to Goolwa on the Murray to discover ancient aboriginal camps and on to Victor Harbour where Southern Right Whales can be viewed (Aug-Oct). Cape Barren Geese, Koalas and waterbirds make this their home. From there, we drive to an 80 acre private reserve in the Adelaide Hills where we spend day 2 exploring the property, birdwatching and tasting wine. The day ends with a spectacular sunset dinner on the banks of the Murray River followed by spotlighting for Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats.
Day 3-5 Following the Murray River upstream, through the Mallee and Clare Valley wine region we will wind our way up into the spectacular Flinders Ranges. Wildlife highlights include Yellow-footed Rock-wallaby and the many native birds, extraordinary rock formations and desert colours. Three days will be spent in luxury at Arkaba, exploring hundreds of square kilometres of countryside in an open-top Land Rover.
Day 6 On the final day, you’ll head slowly back to Adelaide stopping in to see Aboriginal cave paintings and coastal mudflats harbouring thousands of migratory waterbirds (in season).
6 days/6 nights fully guided touring. 6 nights accommodation, activities, entry fees, 6 breakfasts, 2 lunches and 4 dinners.
Note, we can arrange all travel to and from tour locations, quote for group bookings, and tailor any packages as required.

This is only one example of a TAILORED tour. Tailoring doesn't mean more expensive ... it can often mean less. We can develop tours to suit budgets and interests. The price depends a lot on what you want to do, where you want to go (some destinations are more limited than others), how often and the level of comfort and guiding you need. Drawing off our extensive portfolio, we find trips fall roughly into these price categories. Drop us a line with where you want to go, for how long and your approximate budget and you might be surprised what we can do for you.
